Neelkanth Temple is one of the most ancient sites, not just in Rishikesh but in the whole country. Established in 1942, Parmarth Niketan is the biggest ashram of Rishikesh.
It is crowded most of the times, but it is still peaceful there.
There are museums, statues, temples, shops and many more exciting things in there.The evening Ganga Aarti attracts thousands of people. Strolling around here you can listen to Snatam Kaur chanting her soulful chants in a random music shop’s speakers.  You can even find shops for antiques and bookshops selling books about mythology, yoga, and devotion.

On the walking distance from Parmarth Niketan, you can find this world-famous ashram, the Beatles Ashram or Chaurasi Kutia was established by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1960s and 1970s to teach meditation.

The ashram got worldwide fame during the 80s when legendary rock band Beatles visited here. The Beatles stayed here to learn meditation also giving it it’s the now-famous name of ‘Beatles Ashram’.

The ashram was abandoned in the late 90s but was later reopened in 2011. Now you can find beautiful wall paintings and stone structures made in there.

It’s one of those peaceful goofy places which will only attract you to visit more. Although you have to pay price for that as there are entry tickets of rupees 150 INR for Indian citizens and 600 INR for international tourists.

Reaching Beatles Ashram from Parmarth Niketan is super easy.  Having been situated outside from the city and even from Swarg Ashram area, often tourists get confused with the directions. But once you know the way it’s easy to get there.

So, to reach Beatles Ashram you have to take the same path which leads you to Gita Bhawan from Ram Jhula and keep following it for another 800m, few meters ahead from the Gita Bhawan you will spot Beatles Ashram’s Entry Gate and ticket window leading into the woods, and there you are.
