India got its 29th state, Telangana in the year 2014. Hyderabad is the capital of this youngest state, Telangana. The city lies on the Deccan Plateau. Therefore, the main airport of Hyderabad is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport or Shamshabad Airport. It is at a distance of 25 km from the city. Nizam’s Museum

Nizam’s Museum is also known as H. E. H Nizam Museum. The museum is located at a distance of 1 km from Salarjung Museum. Most of the exhibits of the museum constitute the gifts received by seventh Nizam. The gifts were presented on the Silver Jubilee celebrations of King’s reign. It has numerous artefacts and displays which are associated with the Nizam period. The entry fee of the museum is Rs. 100 for adults and Rs.15 for children. The timings of the museum are from 10 am to 5 pm on all days.

Charminar is the most significant spot to drop by while one is in Hyderabad. It is 4 km away from Hyderabad and 1 km away from Nizam’s Museum. The word ‘Charminar’ means ‘four minarets’. The word ‘char’ means four and ‘minar’ refers to pillars or minarets. The monument stands like a gateway. The sight of the monument can be experienced with shops and stalls around it. The hustling market around Charminar is Laad Bazaar. The inner side of the monument has a staircase leading to the rooms above. Usually, the structure can be visited at any time in a day. Above all, the view of Charminar at night is eye-catching. The entry fee is Rs. 5 for Indians and Rs. 100 for foreigners. It is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on all days.

Mecca Masjid

Mecca Masjid is near to the Charminar. It is considered as one of the largest mosques in India. The mosque was built with granite stones. The bricks were brought from Mecca. It experiences a huge gathering of worshippers. Moreover, the mosque has a great significance for Islamic culture. There are inscriptions of the Quran on the door and walls of the mosque. The mosque is open from 4 am to 9:30 pm on all days.

Inside Chowmahalla Palace

Chowmahalla Palace

Chowmahalla Palace means ‘four palaces’. It was built 200 years ago in the 18th century. It is 5 km away from Hyderabad. The four palaces of Chowmahalla Palace include Afzal Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal, Mahtab Mahal and Aftab Mahal. One can have a walk all over the palace and view the unique things here. The entry fee of the palace for Indians is Rs. 50 whereas for foreign tourists it is Rs. 200. The timings of the palace are from 10 am to 5 pm on all days. The palace remains closed on Friday.

Nehru Zoological Park

This is one of the largest zoos of India. The zoo is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru. The park is located 10 km away from Hyderabad. The entry fee of this zoo is minimum. The special attractions of the park are Butterfly Park, Jurassic Park, Safari Park and Mir Alam Lake. In addition, one can view green landscapes, different ecosystems of animals and birds. The zoo is open from 8 am to 5 pm on all days except on Monday.

Golconda Fort

Golconda Fort and Qutub Shahi Tombs

The Golconda Fort is one of the oldest forts of India. It is known for its alluring architecture. The name ‘Golconda’ means ‘Shepherd’s Hill’. The Kakatiyas found the hill of the fort and later it was developed by kings of Qutub Shahi Dynasty. Once upon a time, this fort was the home for the precious ‘Kohinoor Diamond’.

Moreover, the fort is famous for its history as well as mystery. It is 12 km away from Hyderabad. The fort is open from 8 am to 5:30 pm. The entry fee of the fort is Rs. 15 for Indians and Rs. 200 for foreign visitors.

Qutub Shahi Tombs

Qutub Shahi Tombs are the burial spots of the Qutub Shahi rulers. These tombs were built with granite stones. These are located at a distance of 2 km from the fort. One can view these tombs from the Golconda Fort.

The other significant places in Hyderabad are Taj Falaknuma Palace, Paigah Tombs, TS Archaeology Museum and ISKCON Hyderabad. The Clock Tower is also one of the interesting things to see in Hyderabad.

Circuit Two:

When one is wandering around Secunderabad, these places can be visited. Also, it is flexible to move from Secunderabad to any other place in the city. Conveniently, the modes of transport are available here. Secunderabad has a bus depot, a railway station and a metro station. Moreover, the railway station connects other parts of the city through local trains.

Birla Temple

Birla Temple was built on Naubat Pahad which is at a height of 280 feet. This is the temple of Hindu Lord Venkateshwara. The architects constructed the temple with white marbles. For this purpose, white marbles were imported from Rajasthan. The temple has a delighting white look and gives pleasant sight. One can reach this temple either from Secunderabad or Hyderabad. The time taken to reach the temple from either of these places is around 20 min. Birla Temple is open on all days from 7 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm. There is no entry fee.

Birla Planetarium 

Located in the neighbourhood of Birla Temple is the Birla Planetarium. It is one of the most visited places. The planetarium displays information about space, technological updates, current activities related to space expeditions and more. There are exhibits and models on science and space spread out. The Sky Show of the planetarium is the most interesting thing to do. The entry fee of the planetarium is Rs. 100. The planetarium is open from 11:30 am to 8 pm. It remains closed on last Thursday of every month. Whereas, on the second and last Friday of a month, it functions from 3 pm.

Birla Science Museum

Birla Science Museum holds the planetarium, a museum, an art gallery and others. The museum’s exhibits consist statues of gods and goddesses, relics of coins, weapons, apparels, utensils, holy books and other literary books, etc. These were obtained in an excavation. The exhibits include dolls, carpets embedded with jewels, rich clothing, etc. At the same time, the museum has a fossil of a dinosaur extracted in an excavation from Adilabad District. The timings of the museum are from 10:30 am to 8 pm on all days. 

Lumbini Park

Lumbini Park is a famous park situated near Hussain Sagar. The park is located at a distance of 6 km from Secunderabad and 1 km from Birla Temple. This park is perfect to wander about and chill. The special things about the park are the Laser Show and the Musical Fountain. One can experience and enjoy the shows in the evenings. Besides, one may have boat rides too at this park. The entry fee of the park is Rs. 10 whereas the fee for the laser show is separate. It is open from 9 am to 9 pm on all days.

NTR Gardens

NTR Gardens is named after N. T Rama Rao. He served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1983 to 1995. NTR Gardens is a fun-filled park and one of the places for kids to visit in Hyderabad. The park is abundant with greenery, flowers and bushes. The visit to the park is entertaining as there are toy trains, gaming areas, Desert garden, Machan Restaurant, etc. In brief, it is a perfect spot for recreational activities. This park is 6 km away from Secunderabad and 4.5 km away from Hyderabad. It is a few minutes away from Lumbini Park. The timings of the park are from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm on all days. On Sunday and holidays, it is open from 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The entry fee of the park is Rs. 10 or Rs. 20.

Buddha Statue at Hussain Sagar Lake

Hussain Sagar

Hussain Sagar is also known as Tank Bund. It is an artificial lake. It is located at a distance of 6.5 km from Secunderabad. There is a statue of Lord Buddha in the lake. Surrounding the statue is the water of the lake. The sculptors of the statue carved it on a single stone. One can visit the statue through a boat. The statue of Lord Buddha is one of the tallest statues in the world. Eventually, one can enjoy boat rides in the lake and also click pictures of the lake view from the statue. The lake is open from 8 am to 10 pm on all days of the week. There is no entry fee. However, charges are applicable for boat rides.

Circuit Three:

Ramoji Film City

Yet another significant and amusing among Hyderabad’s points of interest is Ramoji Film City. It is 32 km away from Hyderabad and 38 km away from Secunderabad. The Fim City is a picnic spot, holiday spot and most importantly a big set for film shooting. Both Tollywood films and films of other origins shoot the scenes at the sets of Film City. The unique structures and architectures of the place are astonishing. One can have complete entertainment at this visit. The entry fee ranges from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000. The timings of the Film City are from 9 am to 8 pm on all days.

Shilparamam

One who is creative and artistic would not like to ignore visiting this tourist attraction of Hyderabad. It is a village which is around 16 km away from Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Specifically, Shilparamam is a display centre of numerous forms of art and crafts. It also serves as the residence for the artisans. The artisans display and sell their artworks like paintings, sculptures, handmade jewellery, saris, handwoven shawls, bed sheets, pots, wood carvings, etc. The entry fee for this spot is Rs. 40 for adults and Rs. 20 for children.
