Jaisalmer Desert Safari is located at Sam Sand Dunes, which is indeed a beautiful location. It is one of the most authentic Desert Dune sites in India located 40kms from Jaisalmer city and having 30-60 meters tall dunes. It is spread in a vast radius of 2-3km.

There are plenty of things one can enjoy at Sam Sand Dunes Village like Desert Safari, Camel & Jeep Safari, Wildlife Safari, Overnight Camps, etc. The best time for Desert or Camel Safari is between 4-6 PM, i.e. before sunset or between 4-6 AM, i.e. before sunrise.

So you can take a cab from Jaisalmer city in the afternoon after checking-out from the hotel and easily reach Dunes in 1hr or roam around the city in the afternoon and come here at night and have authentic Rajasthani style dinner at Tented Camps.

The month of October to March are said to be the best time to visit Sam Sand Dunes located near Jaisalmer. These months incorporate less heat in dry deserts and less humid weather making Jaisalmer Desert Safari and Camping more enjoyable.

There’s also Desert Festival in the month of February, it is a 3-day event showcasing culture and heritage of Rajasthan. This includes a lot of events such as puppet shows, various competitions such as tug of war, Camel Race, various folk performance and more.

Things to do at Sam Sand Dunes Safari

1. Camel Safari

You can enjoy Camel Safari During the morning hours. Its idiosyncratic chewing, braying, and expressions are sure to bring a smile on your face. Even if you have never ridden an animal before, it’s easy to learn to ride a camel. You can enjoy an amazing camel ride amidst beautiful sunrise in the desert.

2. Jeep Safari

It is considered to be fast, easy and comfortable to way explore the beauty of Dunes. It is one of the reasons many Indians visit this place. You can enjoy the desert safari in a 4 x 4 vehicle for a more enjoyable experience. This is a great budget-friendly option for people who dream of Dubai Desert Safari. It is a great off-roading experience if you have a 4 x 4 vehicle.

3. Desert Campjaisalmer-desert-camp-night

You can enjoy a beautiful night at tented desert camps. They provide visitors with an experience of a lifetime. There are generally tour packages which include Safari, Camping and also Traditional Rajasthani style dinner as well.

4. Games

You can enjoy various Indoor and Outdoor Games. Outdoor games include tug of war, camel race and many more. You can also play Indian traditional games like ludo, snake and ladder, chess not just among yourselves but with other campers as well.

Folk dance and music is arranged by local people every night. It is a very cheerful environment at that moment of time. Moreover, if you visit in the month of February, you can also enjoy the Desert Festival, which is not less than a carnival.

You can shop at errands and buy traditional Rajasthani apparel, have your photos clicked, play games. It is a 3-day festival for which people wait for a whole year.

Night Stay at Dunes

These tented camps provide a complete Rajasthani desert experience. One night package for one includes a camel trek to the dunes to watch the sunset, Swiss tent accommodations, local folk music and dancing with appetizers and chai, followed by dinner, and breakfast the next morning.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1:music-night-camp

Morning: Have breakfast in the morning in Jaisalmer City. Then go for City Tour. After having lunch, you can go to Sam Sand Dunes which is around 45min to 1hr away from City.

Evening: Check-in in the Camp, take rest and then enjoy 20km Jeep Safari in the evening in the Thar Desert with Music. Enjoy Camel Safari at Sunset point and return back to camp by 7 PM.

Night: Enjoy Cultural Dance with Snacks, Camp Fire, DJ Party, Group Dance, and Veg Rajasthani Buffet Dinner. Overnight stay in Swiss Luxury Tent.

Day 2:

Rajasthani style morning breakfast, Check-out from camp and return to the city by afternoon.
