En route by Rail: Pathankot is the nearest railway station to Kheerganga, About 150 km away. After that, you can either board a bus or hire a taxi to Barshaini and from there 11km trek to Kheerganga.

En route by Bus: The bus can take you to Barshaini and then go trekking to Kheerganga.

Delhi to Kheerganga distance in Km: The distance from Delhi to Kheerganga is 541.3 km.

Chandigarh to Kheerganga distance in Km: The distance from Chandigarh to Kheerganga is 309.3 km.

Other checkpoints to get to Kheerganga are Delhi – Chandigarh – Bhuntar – Kasol – Barshaini (the base location).

via Nakthan village (preferred): Nakthan village is famous for exquisite apple orchards. It has its grandness because it’s a traditional Himachali village with a combo of wood-stone houses and cafes. The magnificent view of Rudranag waterfall too will be seen alongside. A trek with marked trails.

via Kalga village: Meanwhile, Kalga village is filled with alpine beauty, abandoned houses, therefore, lacking village life. You can opt this for atmospheric solitude. Hi-five to the wanderlust solo souls.

It will take you around 4 to 6 hours uphill and as you near, You’ll be seeing tarpaulin huts. And you will find yourself enjoying the breathtaking serene picturesque view of Kheerganga and finally above the huts.

  1. Get sticks from the foothill, You can get it from local people at the base.
  2. Start early in the morning and try reaching hilltop before the evening.
  3. Do carry cash as ATM’s are not trustworthy.
  4. Do take along medicines and first aid.
  5. Stay hydrated. Fill up water at Rudranag waterfalls. Advice: to carry 1L.
  6. Take breaks when needed and don’t push yourself.
  7. Carry less weight with you.
  8. Do advance booking for stays during winter.
  9. Travel essentials are torch, backpack, sleeping bag, sandals and trekking boots, raincoat and winter clothes.
