This paradise on earth is located on the western side of the subcontinent and is easy to reach. One can reach there by road only or reach the nearest airport or railway station and then reach the desired destination by car. 

By Air: 

Bhuj Airport

80km away, in the city of Bhuj, is the nearest airport to the Rann of Kutch. Bhuj airport connects to airports all over India pertaining to easy access for travelling. 

By Road:

Ahmedabad and Rajkot are the nearest cities from the serene desert of Kutch, namely 400km & 300km away. One can take a car from these cities to directly reach the destination or hire a cab to reach The Rann of Kutch from Bhuj. 

By Train: 

There is no specific railway station for Kutch. However, trains are coming from major cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc. to Bhuj. One can hire a cab from there to reach The Rann of Kutch. 

Local transport is also available in Kutch like autos and buses to discover more parts of the region.

1.Rann Utsav of Kutch-

The Rann Utsav of Kutch is a mesmerizing event to behold! The magnificent beauty of Kutch with the evergoing white carpet of sand and the splendid landscapes are a sight to not be missed at any cost!

Try not to miss out on this overwhelming festival. 

2.Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary- 

If you are an animal lover, you have GOT to visit this wildlife sanctuary.              

This is only 100km away from the city of Bhuj, Gujarat.

It is the most popular for being home to the greater flamingo, wild ass, Indian porcupine, spiny-tailed lizard and the black-necked storks. A few parts of this sanctuary is restricted to people due to the Indo-Pak border.

3.Kutch Museum-

Educate yourself about the rich history and tradition of Kutch! The Kutch museum has a collection of extinct Kutchi script and ancient coins. A display of embroidery, musical instruments, sculptures and much more can be seen here on exhibit. It is the oldest museum with a collection as such. 

4.Mandvi Beach-

Yoga? Camping? Water Sports? We have got it all here! Mandvi beach is the place to be. It is a peaceful shore by the sea which is popular for not just the tranquil environment but also its water-sporting activities and camping. 

Walk along the shores of this beach to catch a glimpse of the sun setting on the horizon. This beach is also quite the surrounding for practising some yoga and enjoying camel rides. 

5.Aaina Mahal-

The “Hall of Mirrors” was built around the 18th century. It was built by Ram Singh Malam, a genius who had 17 years of experience. 

WOW! However, the 2001 earthquake ruined the glorious glistering glasses, antique clocks and the exotic tile works. It is safe to visit the site now and one must visit the palace if they are nearby to catch a glimpse of history!

6.Kandla & Mudra Port-

The Kandla Port is very important to our country as it is one of the major ports of India. In today’s times, Kandla is one of the highest-earning ports in India because it deals with major imports of petroleum, chemicals, salt, textiles, grains, iron and steel.  

7.Hamirsar Lake-

This lake might be dry or filled with water depending on the time of the year. This lake is a MUST-VISIT for a lovely afternoon picnic or gathering while learning a bit about the Jadega Dynasty and the history of the very place!

8.Prag Mahal- 

Love to know some history and see the architectural wonders with your own eyes? 

You cannot miss this ancient palace for sure! It can be seen right next to the famous Aaina Mahal.

It has Corinthian pillars and gothic style windows and is made mostly out of red sandstone. Carvings can be seen on the walls with beautiful and splendid jharokhas that can be seen which mark the exquisite styles and decor that emerged in that historical era. 

A Bollywood movie fanatic? Well, Lagaan and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam has been shot in this palace itself!

9.Mata Do Madh-

Want to take the blessings of Ashapura Mata? This is an ancient 1200-year-old temple. It offers a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere for its devotees. 

10.Anjar-

Anjar is a town containing 1400 years of history and civilization. Isn’t that marvellous?

It is the oldest town in Kutch and was the Medieval capital going down the history lane. The town has suffered many earthquakes and now the historical monuments lie in ruins, but that adds more curiosity and beauty to it!  Worth a visit for history!

Shopping can be equally fun! The Great Rann of Kutch is famous for its artistic handicrafts as well. A lot of these products and artefacts are seen on sale during the Rann Utsav.

These precious artworks have unique styling techniques that attract travellers from all over the world. One can find anything from embroidered bedsheets to sarees and carpets!  

3.Music & Dance Performances

Attend the Rann Utsav and experience the numerous music and dance performances there.

Shake a leg or a hip! Enjoy the night swaying away to the folk tunes and watching folk dance performances of the city!

4.Yoga

Meditation and yoga is the best way to bring relief to oneself. So why not? This serene and peaceful place gives the perfect environment to practice yoga along the seashores of Mandvi beach or maybe just in the desert. 

5.Dining

This gives you a chance to explore different sorts of food across this region. From the hatts which are lit with dim lights during the Rann Utsav to the delicious and scrumptious delicacies by the Kutchi people are something you might not want to miss on this trip!

A Kutchi thali is quite famous around India as a delicate plate of food from the region of Kutch. This has bajri no rotlo, makhan (freshly churned white butter), sev tameta nu shaak, scrumptious shrikhand, sabzi, cooling chaas and what not?!

Best Time To Visit Kutch?

The Rann of Kutch is famous for its temperature and climate fluctuations. Hence, it should be planned out properly. It is advised by experts to be visited from November to December.

One of the hottest areas yet the climate drastically changes in the winter months and can drop to below 0 degrees Celsius as well. The month of September is said to not be a great time to visit as monsoon reaches late in this region and Kutch is a low-lying area.

It is advisable to visit this region in the winter season when the temperature would variate between 25-12 degrees Celsius, the perfect weather to enjoy your surroundings pleasantly.

It is no less than a Sunburn concert or a fair in your city. On the other hand, it is completely different from those experiences. You must not have ever come in connection with such an extravagant festival before.
