Wayanad is a rural district in Kerala state, southwest India, which was formed on 1st November 1980. It is set high on the Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 meters.

  • By Train:

There is no direct rail connection here. Visitors can take a train till Kozhikode, the nearest railway station. Quite a number of trains connect Kozhikode with major towns and cities on a regular basis. After getting down at the station, taxis or buses can be boarded for further direct travel 

  • By Flight:

The Karipur international airport at Kozhikode is the only airport situated here. It is located at a distance of 100 km from the city. 4. Bansura Sagar Dam

Chembra Peak is one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats and the highest peak in Wayanad hills, at 2,100 m above sea level. Chembra is located near the town of Meppadi and is 8 km south of Kalpetta.

6. Edakkal Caves

Edakkal Caves also Edakal, are two natural caves at Edakkal, around 120 km south-west of Mysuru, in Wayanad district. These caves once were a camping shelter to the Neolithic Age which contain engravings that have been decorated over the time.
