The festival pays tribute to his arrival in the beautiful Doon valley in the year 1733.
Upon his arrival, Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji established a Gurudwara and named it “Darbar Sahib” also known as “Jhanda Sahib”. Darbar Sahib hosts this festival every year.
Jhanda Sahib Mela attracts hundreds of devotees every year.
The main attraction of the festival is a 27m long flag, build from sal tree. The tree is bathed with milk and holy waters prior to the festival. The flag is then covered with Malmal cloth, and the cloth is wrapped around all over the tree.
There is a lot to experience in the fair. You will find tiny stalls selling, hand-crafted products such as jewellery, toys, clothes, accessories, etc.
You can also enjoy street foods and rides on ferries it is all fun and exciting.
