Every mobile phone, GSM modem, or device with an integrated phone/modem has a distinct 15-digit IMEI number. You can look up information about the device, such as its brand or model, using this number.
Every mobile device has a unique IMEI number. The IMEI number identifies where the mobile device was manufactured as well as the model number. Any phone’s IMEI number indicates the phone’s current location. When your device is lost or stolen, even if the SIM card in your phone has been removed, the IMEI number attached to the device can be used to track it down.

How to Check the IMEI Number of a Phone Using a USSD Code?
The USSD code is the simplest way to find your phone’s IMEI number. This method is, for the most part, universal. It is compatible with almost all feature phones and smartphones.
On your phone, enter *#06#.
The IMEI number is now visible on the screen. Take a screenshot for future reference.
Check the IMEI number on the box:
If your phone has been stolen and you forgot to check and write down the IMEI number, still it can be located. Check the box you have the box that your phone came in, you’ll find a sticker somewhere on the outside of the box that lists the IMEI number of your phone.
How to find the IMEI number on your Android phone:
- Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Scroll down and tap on About Phone.
- Scroll down and you will find the number under IMEI.
How to find the IMEI number on iOS:
The IMEI number is also located in the iPhone’s Settings app. Using Settings is probably the best option because it enables you to copy and paste the number. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General > About.
- Scroll down to locate the IMEI number (look for a group of numbers headed Primary).
- Tap and hold the IMEI number, copy or take a screenshot for further use.
